Inspire Accountants is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015, and our professional obligations under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA) and the Code of Professional Conduct.
This policy explains how we collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information, and how you can access and correct that information or make a complaint.
We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our accounting, taxation, and business advisory services. This includes:
Name, address, email address, telephone numbers, date of birth, occupation, marital status, and identification documents (for verification purposes).
Income and expense details, bank account and financial institution details, investment and asset information, business financial records and transactions, and superannuation details.
Tax File Numbers (TFNs), Australian Business Numbers (ABNs), Director Identification Numbers, and other government-issued identifiers required for taxation purposes.
Business structure and ownership details, employee and contractor information (where you are an employer client), and business transactions and financial performance data.
We collect personal information directly from you when you engage our services, complete forms, or communicate with us. We also collect information from your authorised representatives (such as lawyers, financial planners, or family members), from government bodies such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), ASIC, or Services Australia, from financial institutions, employers, and other third parties where authorised by you, from publicly available sources, and through our website when you submit enquiries or subscribe to communications.
We use your personal information to provide accounting, taxation, and advisory services, prepare and lodge tax returns, business activity statements, and other regulatory filings, communicate with government bodies on your behalf, comply with our legal and professional obligations, provide you with relevant information about our services, events, and publications (you may opt out at any time), and improve our services and client experience.
As a registered tax agent, Inspire Accountants is a lawful recipient of Tax File Numbers under the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015.
We collect, use, store, and disclose TFNs only for purposes authorised under taxation, superannuation, or personal assistance law. This includes lodging income tax returns and other tax documents with the ATO, communicating with the ATO on your behalf, and preparing and lodging superannuation-related documents.
We do not use TFNs as our own identifier for you, and we do not disclose TFNs except as required or authorised by law.
TFN information is stored securely and access is restricted to authorised personnel who require it to perform their duties. We destroy or de-identify TFN information when it is no longer required to be retained by law or necessary for a purpose under taxation law.
We may disclose your personal information to the Australian Taxation Office and other government agencies as required to provide our services, other professional advisers (such as lawyers, financial planners, or auditors) with your consent, software providers and cloud service providers who assist us in delivering our services, our professional indemnity insurers (where required for claims management), and regulatory bodies (where we have a legal obligation to do so).
We will not sell or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
